MESSAGE FROM MUGE

“Hello all,

British Taekwondo has decided that all their member clubs who work with under 18s should have a Club Welfare Officer (CWO) from 1st June 2024. I have been offered the position which I gladly accepted.  I have completed the first part of the CWO training and am looking forward to tackling the second part asap. By way of a short introduction, my name is Muge (pronounced Mewgeh) Collier, I am both a parent and a student of our club. I have been a civil servant for the best part of 25 years and my last job was with a UK Law Enforcement Agency; so I am familiar with Safeguarding and Child Protection concepts. Having said that, this is my first time being a Welfare Officer, so it will be a learning curve for me. In the coming months, I shall endeavour to put in place/update the necessary procedures and documents specific to our club but in the meantime, I think it is a good idea to familiarise ourselves with the British Taekwondo’s newly updated “safeguarding children” policy.  This is important because it is everyone’s responsibility; club employees, volunteers, parents, and fellow students, to keep the children and young adults of our Club safe and well and I will be the first port of call for any concerns, anyone might wish to raise. The attached flyer contains all my contact details. Best Wishes, Muge”
